Globe Telecom and Smart Communications dominate the major cellular phone services, but both networks are sometimes overloaded to capacity due to massive text messaging of their local customers.
Public payphones are rampant in Manila and in major cities but be prepared for crossed lines and background noise. Prepaid telephone cards are available for use in payphones. Some small shops and business establishments also provide informal phone services.
